TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)
– Three members of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team claimed victories at the Toledo Invitational, May 2-3, in what marked the final meet before the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships.

Freshman Jason Ervin won the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 48.15, while the two other EMU victories came in the field events. Fellow freshman Zach Waldron took the high jump with a leap of 6-feet 4.75-inches (1.95 meters), tying his career-high. A common trend seen this year is Max Babits winning the pole vault. The junior from Fowlerville, Mich. did it again, grabbing the top mark of 16-feet 6.75-inches (5.05 meters) at Toledo. Teammates Joe Tesner and Dylan Stites finished behind Babits in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Chris Scott led the Eagles in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.77 for third place. Cameron Bolton placed fourth with a 10.79, while Matthew Williams and Wayne Blanchard ended in sixth and eighth, respectively. The trio of Scott, Bolton and Williams combined with Jay Saunders to finish runner-up in the 4x100-meter relay. The team combined for a time of 40.64, just 0.21 seconds away from cracking the top-ten marks in EMU history.

In the hurdles, Darrell Butler led the Green and White in both events, taking third in the 110-meter (14.47) along with a second-place time in the 400-meter (53.19).

As the only Eagle competing in the hammer throw, Anthony Jones tossed a personal-best 171-feet 1-inch (52.15 meters).

The MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Akron, Ohio, await the Eagles, May 9-11. Eastern will attempt to pull off the conference championship sweep after winning the MAC Indoor Championships, Feb. 22-23, on Bob Parks Track.
