Kwon Earns Academic All-MAC Accolades

Four EMU student-athletes earn Honorable Mention Academic All-MAC honors
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University golfer Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada-Richmond Hill) was named to the Academic All-MAC Team by the Mid-American Conference Friday afternoon, May 24. The Eagles also had four members of its squad earn Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention for the 2013 campaign.
This year's squad was highlighted by Kent State's Jennifer Ha, the 2013 MAC Women's Golfer of the Year, First Team All-MAC and All-Tournament Team member, as well as a participant that advanced to the NCAA Championships after the Golden Flashes' 15th consecutive MAC title. Joining Ha is MAC Sportswoman of the Year, Ohio's Sarah Tranelli. Also making the team were Top 20-finishers at the MAC Championship, Jenna Hague of Ball State, Shelby Wilson of Bowling Green, Western Michigan's Kaylee Imel and EMU's Kwon.
Earning Honorable Mention All-MAC accolades were junior Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School), senior Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada-Westside Secondary School), Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) and redshirt freshman Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
