Tennis Clips Ball State, 5-2, in Final Road Match

Eagles win four of the six singles matches on the afternoon
MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team picked up a much needed road Mid-American Conference victory over Ball State University Saturday afternoon, April 6, at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. The Eagles edged the Cardinals to pick up their second MAC victory of the season, improving their overall season record to 7-12 and 2-3 in MAC play. Meanwhile, the Cardinals fell to 12-9 on the season and 3-2 in league play.
"We played a solid match today against a solid young Ball State team," said Head Coach Ryan Ray. "This was certainly the tennis we are capable of playing. We will look to bring similar performances at home for our last three matches."
The Eagles jumpped infront early against the Cardinals, 1-0,as Nino Mebuke and Klara Supejova won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles and Daphne Friedrichs and Zsofia Biro teamed up to win 8-6 at the No. 3 position
In singles action, Mebuke won 7-6, 6-3 at No.2, Ankita Bhatia finished off a 7-5, 7-6 decision at No. 3, Biro notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 and Mariya Toncheva rallied to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 position.
Eastern Michigan returns home to host Northern Illinois, April 13, Buffalo, April 19, and Akron, April 20, before the 2013 MAC Tournament, April 25-28, in Muncie, Ind. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
