BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Led by junior Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School), the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team currently reside in fourth place at the Indiana Invitational here at the 6,142-yard, par-72 Indiana University Golf Course. Crossan fired rounds of 73 and 75 for a total of 148 on day one and is two strokes behind the University of Indiana's Elizabeth Tong at 146 (71-75).
As a team, Eastern Michigan recorded a 36-hole total of 620 (312-295). The host Hoosiers hold down the top spot with a 595 (298-297) followed by Kansas (600) and Toledo (616).
Two other Eagles also finished day one action in the top 30, senior Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) is currently tied for 16th after firing a 154 (79-75). Junior Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada-Richmond Hill) is in a 30th place tie after tallying a pair of 79s for an opening day 158. Redshirt sophomore Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) and redshirt freshman Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) rounded out the lineup in 43rd and 44th place, respectively.
Playing as individuals, redshirt junior Rushda Mallick (Cape Town, South Africa-Glenwood House-Cape Peninsula University of Technology) carded rounds of 83 and 86 for a 169 in 73rd place, while junior Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) is 80th with a 173 (93-80).
Round three gets under way Sunday, April 14, with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
