Eagles Sit in 16th After Two Days at the USF Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team continued play Monday afternoon, March 4, at the University of South Florida Invitational. The Eagles combined for a 311 to sit in 16th place after the second day of the 54-hole tournament, which is being played on the 7,060 yard, par-72 Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Freshman Stuart Grehan (Tullamore, Ireland-Colaiste Choilm) recorded a 78 for a two-day total of 150 (72-78) to sit in a tie for 37th place. Freshman Brett White (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood) was the next best shooter for the Eagles by posting a 152 (75-77), while senior Spencer Slade (Saline, Mich.-Saline-Savannah State) notched a 77 after opening with a 76 for a cumulative 153. Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) and Josh Heinze (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) rounded out the bottom of the lineup with a 156 (77-79) and 158 (78-80), respectively.
North Carolina State shot a 287 in the first round and a 280 in the second to hold a three-shot lead over No. 43 ranked South Carolina. The individual leader is NCSU's Albin Choi, who finished the first round with a four-under 68 and the second round with an identical 68. Choi's eight-under 136 is two strokes better than Daniel Berger of Florida State who sit in second at six-under for the tournament.
