Men's Golf Finishes Tied for 14th at the USF Invitational

Spencer Slade ties for 30th place with a 224
DADE CITY, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Spencer Slade (Saline, Mich.-Saline-Savannah State) turned in top-30 showing, placing in a tie for 30th place at the 2013 USF Invitational, March 3-5. The Saline, Mich. native carded a 71 in the final round to finish with a 224 (76-77-71).
On the 7,060 yard, par-72 Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club course, the Eagles finished in a tie for 14th place with a team score of 920 (300-311-309) as North Carolina State University took home the invitational hardware with a 860 (287-280-293). No. 43 ranked South Carolina finished one stroke back with a 861 (287-283-291). Individually, NC States' Albin Choi led from wire-to-wire to finish atop the standings with an eight-under 208 (68-68-72).
Playing in the star-studded field, freshman Stuart Grehan (Tullamore, Ireland-Colaiste Choilm) gave the Eagles another player among the top 60, after carding a 229 (72-78-79) for a 52nd place tie. Freshman Brett White (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood) was the next best shooter for the Eagles in 61st place by posting a 231 (75-77-79). Junior Brian Churchill-Smith Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) followed with a 236 (77-79-80) while Josh Heinze (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) posted a 238 (78-80-80) for 80th place.
Next up for the Head Coach Bruce Cunningham and the Eagles is the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, March 10-12, in Pinehurst, N.C.
