WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (EMUEagles.com) -- Due to unseasonable snow Sunday evening and Monday, this week's C&F Bank Intercollegiate was declared final after the first round was completed Tuesday afternoon. Eastern Michigan University senior Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) and Notre Dame's Cory Sciupider finished tied for the top spot after a three-under par 67.
The EMU men's golf team finished fourth overall, just three strokes behind No. 27 Tennessee at 285.
EMU finished play on Sunday before snow and darkness suspended play with some groups still having as many as eight holes left in the first round. Monday's round was also snowed out before the remainder of the squads finished up on Tuesday.
Olsen's victory was the first of his career and his second career top-10 showing. The individual title is the first by an Eagle since Graham Hill won the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championships. Additionally, his three-under 67 was just one shot off his career-low of 66 set in the second round of the Windon Memorial, Oct. 16, 2011.
EMU returns home for a 25 day break before their final regular season tune-up at the Boilermaker Invitational, April 20-21, in West Lafayette, Ind.
