EMU battles the flu and the course in Hot Springs, Ark.
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team had to battle both tough scoring conditions as well as illness Monday, March 25, in the first round of the UALR Women's Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club. EMU was forced to withdraw from the team competition after seniors Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada-Westside Secondary School) and Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) were unable to participate due to illness.
The remaining trio of Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School), Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada-Richmond Hill) and Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) remained in the field to compete as individuals.
Kwon is currently tied for fifth place with an opening round 78 while Lee Ping and Crossan are tied for 39th with an 83.
EMU was unablet finish out the final two rounds of the invitational Tuesday, March 26.
