EMU Has Four Top-Five Finishes at OSU Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team had multiple student-athletes competing in the 2013 Ohio State University Winter Invitational Saturday, Feb. 9. The Eagles saw both preliminary and finals competition Saturday afternoon.
In the men's preliminary events, the Eagles had all of its student-athletes qualify for the finals which are to be held Sunday, Feb. 10. In total, the Eagles had 11 qualifiers. EMU saw four top-five finishes. Frankie DeMaria posted a fourth place finish in the 500-freestyle, touching the wall in 4:33.66. Nate Schingoethe completed the 100-backstroke in 50.82, good for fourth. Aaron Lawson and Dan Proctor finished 4-5 in the 400-individual medley in 4:08.87 and 4:11.15.
DeMaria was able to earn fourth place in the finals of the 500-freestyle with a 4:33.29, while Schingoethe took fifth in the 100-backstroke, touching the wall in 51.42. Lawson had the top finish for Eastern, taking second in the 400-individual medley with a 4:06.96, while Proctor took fourth in 4:08.69.
Eastern continues action at the Ohio State Winter Invitational Sunday, Feb. 10. Action at McCorkle Aquatic Center begins at 10 a.m.
