Eastern will host Miami University, Saturday, Feb. 2

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will look to extend its undefeated Mid-American Conference dual-meet record to 63 when they host the RedHawks of Miami University .  Competition is scheduled to begin Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. in EMU's Jones Natatorium.

The most recent meeting between these two teams was Feb. 2, 2012, when the Eagles emerged victorious taking 11 of meet's 16 events to beat their Oxford, Ohio hosts by a score of 176.5-123.5.  The EMU victory was led by strong performances from Jacob Hanson, Matt Zavislak and this season's returning swimmers Michael Swain and Michael Kinross.  Kinross owned the podium in all butterfly events posting a 50.96 in the 100 Yard and a 1:52.62 in the 200 Yard to claim 1st in each event. The Eagles dominated most events but failed to claim 1st in the one or three meter diving competitions.

Eastern will be looking to make it 16 consecutive victories when going head to head with MU, their last loss dating back to the 1995-96 season.  Miami will be looking to bounce back from a Jan. 20, 124-175 loss to Buffulo but will find a tough challenge in the 11 time consecutive MAC Swimming and Diving Champion Eagles.   The Green and White have an improved diving team led by seniors Jeffrey Craig and Andrew Saunders and are poised to repeat last season's success.
