NOW BACK TO THE ACTION: After a 13-day layoff, the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team returns to the court for a non-conference tilt Saturday, Nov. 30, versus Marygrove College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
Eastern Michigan enters the game with a mark of 3-0 after downing Cleveland State University, 84-70, in Cleveland, Ohio, Nov. 17. The Mustangs are 2-4 on the season after dropping an 85-55 decision at Cornerstone University, Nov. 23. Marygrove will still play at Lawrence Technological University, Nov. 26, and at Saginaw Valley State University, Nov. 27, before coming to Ypsilanti.
Veteran broadcasters Chad Bush and Greg Steiner will have the call on WEMU (89.1 FM) beginning at 1:50 p.m. Live video of the game can also be found on Eagle All-Access (subscription-based).

ALL-TIME VERSUS MARYGROVE: The Eagles are 15-2 all-time against non-NCAA Division I foes with the last meeting against the Mustangs occurring during the 2011-12 campaign when the Eagles rolled to a 110-31 victory at the Convocation Center, Nov. 14.
In the contest, all 12 Eagles combined for the most points ever scored in a single game during the program's history, as Green and White led by as many as 82 points in the second half. The Eagles raced out to an early 41-0 lead, as the Mustangs were unable to score a basket until 8:55 left in the opening half.

THE THRICE IS RIGHT:  The last time the women's basketball team started off the season with a 3-0 run was during the 2009-10 season, when the team topped Illinois-Chicago, Marygrove, and Siena in a one-week span.  The Eagles won by an average margin of 25.3 points.  The team then went on to win an additional matchup against Niagara, bringing the run to 4-0 before dropping a contest to Temple, Nov. 24, 2009.

LEADING THE MAC: The Eagles are currently sitting atop the Mid-American Conference in nine categories as well as ranking in the top-five in eight others. The Green and White leads the league in scoring margin (+22.7), field goal percentage (.345), three-point field goal percentage (.379), offensive rebounds (158), rebounding margin (+10.7), steals per game (11.0), defensive rebounds per game (37.3), defensive rebound percentage (.762) and three-pointers made per game (8.3).
Individually, Olivia Fouty and Cha Sweeney rank in the top-10 in scoring as Fouty is fifth in the league, averaging 16.8 points per game and Sweeney is seventh with 15.7 points per game. Fouty boasts a .581 field goal percentage which ranks third in the conference, while her .500 three-point percentage ties for fourth and her 8.7 rebounds per game ranks eighth. Both Sweeney and Desyree Thomas tie for second in the league as they average 4.3 steals per game, while junior transfer Jamaica Bucknor leads the conference, averaging 4.3 offensive rebounds per contest.

NEARLY A FORTNIGHT AWAY: After 13 days away from the court, the Eagles return to action against Marygrove, Nov. 30. The nearly two week gap between contests is the longest span between contests since the 2012-13 campaign when the Green and White waited 14 days between playing UMKC (Dec. 15) and Tulane (Dec. 29).

THE GAME, PART DEUX: The Eagles' contest against Marygove will not be the only big game going on in Washtenaw County on Saturday afternoon, as "The Game" pits Ohio State University and the University of Michigan on the gridiron. For the 13th time since the 1995-96 season, the Eagles will play on the same day as the OSU-Michigan game. EMU is 6-6 in those contests. If you are looking as a predictor for the outcome of the other contest, OSU and U-M have also evenly split the 12 games.

YOUTH BEING SERVED: Heading into the 2013-14 campaign, Head Coach Tory Verdi knew he would be leading a very young team this season as the Eagles welcomed eight newcomers to the roster. In two games, the newcomers have combined for 57 percent (152 points) of the squad's  offense.

A LOOK INSIDE THE SPECIALTY STATS: The Eagles are averaging 35.3 points per game in the paint, 34.7 points off the bench, 23.0 points per game off turnovers, 15.3 second-chance points and 19.7 fast break points per game.

BENCH PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED SUPPORT: Even though the season is only three games old, the Eastern Michigan bench has shown that it can provide a spark. Versus Madonna (Nov. 9), the bench poured in 42 of the team's 101 points while against Butler (Nov. 13) the reserves notched 21 of the team's 81 points. The trend continued at Cleveland State (Nov. 17), when the reserves tossed in 41 points.
Last year, the EMU bench averaged just 15.6 points per contest.

EMU INKS SIX TO NATIONAL LETTERS: Head Coach Tory Verdi announced the signing of six high school seniors to National Letters of Intent, Nov. 19. The Eagles signed Sasha Dailey (Toledo, Ohio-Rogers), Tori Easley (Toledo, Ohio-Rogers), Ashley Henry (University Park, Ill.-Crete-Monee), Micah Robinson (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Huron), Britani Stowe (Washington, D.C.-Saint John's College Prep) and Jade Wilson (Indianapolis, Ind.-Lawrence North) for the 2014-15 season.

AGAINST IN-STATE SCHOOLS: Eastern Michigan has had great success against other collegiate programs in the state of Michigan over the past 11 seasons. Since the beginning of the 2002-03 season, the Eagles are 46-20 (69.7 winning percentage) against in-state rivals.
