AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Led by sophomore Stuart Grehan's (Tullamore, Ireland-Colaiste Choilm) opening day four-under par 140 (73-67) Monday, Oct. 7, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in tied for third place with the University of South Carolina-Aiken on the 17-team leaderboard at the Firestone Invitational on the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.

Entering Tuesday's third round, Grehan sits in a first place tie with Kansas State's Matt Green on the 90-player leaderboard. One stroke back in third place is USCA's Hayden Letien (72-69).

The Eagles concluded the tournament's opening rounds with a team score of 589 (298-291). The Green and White are nine strokes back of leader Washington State University (580) and one shot behind Kansas State (588).

Senior Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario-Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) is tied for 15th with a 147 (71-76) while junior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Ancaster Secondary-Pfeiffer) managed a 151 (78-73) in a tie for 42nd.

Play is set to conclude on Tuesday with tee times from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat Live Scoring.
