South Bend, Ind. (EMUEagles.com)--Eastern Michigan University's women's cross country team nabbed a 15th place finish at the 58th annual Notre Dame Invitational, Friday, Oct. 4. The Green and White finished the 5,000-meter race with a total of 339 points.
Junior Victoria Voronko (Stavropol, Russia-School #42) continued her pattern in pacing the Eagles for the season, as she was the first Eagle and second competitor in the Women's Gold race to cross the finish line. Her time of 17:21.9 was bested only by the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Courtney Frerichs, who nabbed a first place finish with a 17:18.2 mark.
Two more Eagles landed in the top-100 of the 212-competitor field. Senior Kayla Pfund (Shelby Twp., Mich.-Lutheran North) finished 36th with a time of 18:32.3, while junior Marina Manjon Rivadulla (Barcelona, Spain-Escola University) came in at 19:01.6.
Southern Illinois University claimed the overall team title, with a total of 52 points for the afternoon.
The Green and White will have the next week off before competing in the Pre-NCAA Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
