Hendrix brings championship mindset to women's program

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Sue Parks announced Friday the addition of former Eagle runner Austin Hendrix as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's programs.

"Austin has been a team captain and a part of MAC Championship teams here at EMU,” said Parks.  “What impressed me about Austin during his years here was his racing toughness and his ability to run well for the team when it really counted.  I feel that he will bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the women's team as we strive to continue to move up in the MAC."

Hendrix returns to the Eagle's program one year after his eligibility expired at the end of the 2011-12 season.

During his senior year with the men's cross country team, Hendrix finished 11th at the Toledo Open, 12th at the Spartan Invitational, 58th at the Notre Dame Invitational, 18th at the New Balance Vic Matthew Open, 20th at the MAC Championships and 121st at the NCAA Great Lake Regional

Hendrix was a contributing member of the 2010 and 2011 MAC Championship teams, as he finished 15th and 20th respectively.
