Ejigu Claims Second Individual Title of 2012 at UT Bubble Buster

Eastern Michigan finishes second in team competition behind #13 Syracuse
Results
TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles) – Eastern Michigan University senior, Terefe Ejigu turned in the top time for the second consecutive race this season, as Ejigu finished first at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster Friday evening.
Ejigu, the rigning Mid-American Conference Men's Runner of the Week and MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Week, ran at a 4:46 pace giving him a finishing time of 19:01.6 to lead all runners. The first place finish was more than five seconds ahead of second place's Martin Hehir, from the #13 Syracuse Orangemen.
Following Hehir, the Orange runners finished third through tenth to claim the Bubble Buster's team.
As a team Eastern Michigan finished second behind nationally ranked Syracuse, tuning in 50 points for the Eagles final mark.
"Concluding a good week of training our effort was very solid and the experience we gained racing Syracuse, which is clearly stronger than us, is invaluable to our continuing development and progress, " said Head Coach John Goodridge.
EMU runners, Daryl Smith, Harry Dixon, Warren Witchell and Willy Fink finished 12th, 15th, 18th and 20th to close out the top five scorers for Eastern Michigan in the event.
Behind Eastern in the team results was San Francisco (68), Toledo (138), Charlotte (139) and Ohio (140).
The Eagles will be back in action next Friday, September 28 at the Notre Dame Invitational that is set to go off at 2PM.
