Ejigu finishes third in field riddled with national competition

SOUTHBEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University's Men's Cross Country team placed 12th, with a team score of 390, Friday evening at the 57th running of the Notre Dame Invitational. The Eagles took part in the men's blue race, which was stacked with national competition.
The Eagles were led by senior Terefe Ejigu who turned in a third place finish. Ejigu kept up his outstanding senior campaign crossing the line in 23:39, only six seconds behind the first place finisher.
Rounding out the top five for the Eagles were Harry Dixon, Daryl Smith, Ian Hancke and Willy Fink, placing 32nd, 58th, 97th and 101st respectively.
Chris O'Hare of Tulsa took the individual title in the blue race with a time of 23:33, as Tulsa took the overall team title with a score of 104.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, October 13 as Eastern will compete at the 2012 NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by the University of Louisville. The Eastern University will have both teams running at the event, the men will run at 9:30 AM and the women will run immediately following, at 10:15 AM. Click here to check out meet central.
