Eagles to face tough field two weeks prior to MAC Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Great Lake Regional's #6 ranked Eastern Michigan University Men's Cross Country Team gets back on the course tomorrow, Saturday, October 12, at the 2012 NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by the University of Louisville.
The Eagles will face a highly competitive field that will include the Eagles as well as five other Mid-American Conference institutions. EMU will have an early preview of the MAC Championships, which take place October 27 at Buffalo. Akron, Central Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Ohio and Toledo will all be at the Pre-Nationals this weekend.
"We are looking forward to racing at the Pre-NCAA Invitational as this will afford us another opportunity to test ourselves against nationally ranked teams and provide us the experience of racing in a very large talented field,” said Head Coach John Goodridge. “Our training has continued to progress. We enter this race off our hardest training cycle which has been very encouraging."
Other notable teams that will run in Louisville this weekend will include eight nationally ranked teams and three regionally ranked teams from outside the MAC.
Nationally the Eagles will face #9 Tulsa, #12 Villanova, #14 Florida State, #15 Oregon, #20 Eastern Kentucky and Georgetown, #23 William and Mary, and #26 Indiana.
Other regional members that EMU will see in Louisville include Butler, Cincinnati, and Indiana State.
The men will run in the first race of the day at 9:30 A.M at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park, with the EMU Women's team running at 11:30 A.M.
