Alejandro Falls Short of Finals at 2012 Olympic Games

Despite setting a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles, Eric Alejandro failed to qualify for the medal round
400-Meter Hurdle Semifinal Results
LONDON, England (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University track and field alum Eric Alejandro set a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles today, Aug. 4, in the semifinal round of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The former Eagle completed the length in 49.15 but took seventh in his heat and failed to qualify for the final round.
Alejandro ran in the first semifinal heat, placing seventh. Taking first in that heat was Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic with a 47.76 finish.
Fellow EMU alumnus, high jumper Jamie Nieto is scheduled to make his Olympic debut tomorrow, Aug. 5, in the preliminary round. The high jump prelims are set to begin at 7:05 p.m. (London Time) which is 2:05 p.m. locally.

EMU has had a track representative at the summer Olympic Games since Hayes Jones in 1960. The Eagles have had 17 representatives in 52 years, 14 men and three women.
