MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University track and field delivered a proud showing in the final day of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships in Muncie, Ind., Saturday, May 16, as Kian Wiles earned the victory in the men's 1500m, and the women swept both 4x100m and 4x400m relay titles.

The men finished in second place with 148.50 points, while the women finished in fifth place with 75 points. Akron swept both titles with the men earning 212 points and the women scoring 135.50.

How it Happened – Women
Saturday's track finals saw the women's squad sweep both relays, highlighted by graduate student Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy), who also finished sixth in the 100m (11.61) and fourth in the 200m (23.64).

Walkes was joined by Uduak Udosoh (Abak, Nigeria/Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary), Ajah Arscott (Plantation, Fla./Taravella), and Jordynn Young (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) in the 4x100m relay, claiming the victory in 45.33, improving their 10th best time in program history from 45.36 earlier this season.

The 4x400m relay champions included Walkes, Udosoh, Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School) and Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom), finishing the race in 3:38.21.

Oloye and Udosoh finished second and third in the 400m, with times of 53.61, and 53.62, respectively. Oloye's time of 53.61 now ranks 10th in program history, right after Udosoh's prelim time of 53.56 from day two of the championships.

Liusmar Rivas Velasquez (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.49, the seventh best in program history.

In Saturday's field finals, Savannah Breitwiser (Commerce Township, Mich./Walled Lake Central/Michigan State) finished eighth in the women's discus with a 42.78m (140-4) mark, improving her program No. 6 mark. Mariah Taylor (East Lake, Fla./East Lake) claimed fourth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.77m (41-10.75).
