Alejandro Qualifies for Semifinals at 2012 Olympics

Eric Alejandro takes fourth in heat #2 to qualify for the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles
LONDON, England (EMUEagles.com) — Former Eastern Michigan University trackster Eric Alejandro took the next step toward international fame Friday morning, Aug. 3, when he qualified for the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Alejandro was in the second qualifying heat of the 400-meter hurdles and completed the race in 49.39 seconds. His time was good enough for the 20th best time in the first round. His Puerto Rican teammate, Javier Culson, set the pace with a 48.33 finish in heat number four.
Alejandro is scheduled to run in the semifinals Saturday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. (London Time) which is 2 p.m. local time.
Another former Eagle is scheduled to compete at the 2012 Olympics as Jamie Nieto will take part in the high jump qualifying round at 7:05 p.m. (London Time) which is 2:05 p.m. local time Sunday, Aug. 5.
