Eagles Selected to Finish Fifth In MAC in 2012

Coaches select EMU to finish fifth among MAC foes
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday afternoon that the women's cross country coaches have tabbed Eastern Michigan University to finish fifth during the 2012 season.
The Eagles, coached by Sue Parks, come into the season returning an experienced squad that includes five seniors. The senior crew of Courtney Calka, Morgan Churchwell, Tiffany Kincaid, Lauren Lunsford and Rachel Quaintance will lead the way for the Eagles.
Also returning in 2012 is sophomore Victoria Voronko, who was the Eagles top finisher at the 2011 MAC Championships and All-MAC first team member. Calka joins Voronko as a fellow all-MAC member, as she received second team last season.
Ahead of the Eagles, Toledo was tabbed as the preseason favorites as well as the 2012 MAC Champions. After Toledo, Ohio was selected to finish second followed by Central Michigan and Miami, to round out the teams slated ahead of EMU.
Following the Eagles, Western Michigan was picked sixth followed by Akron, Northern Illinois, Buffalo, Kent State, Ball State and Bowling Green respectively.
Toledo was picked also picked to win the 2012 MAC Championship team title which will take place October 27, and will be hosted by the University of Akron.
Eastern will open the 2012 season with Friday, August 31, as the Eagles will compete at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open hosted by Bowling Green State University.
