LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (EMUEagles.com)— The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished in eighth place after day two of the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic Tuesday, March 27, at Bear Den Course at Chenal Country Club. Senior Derek East continued his strong play for the Green and White, picking up his first top-20 finish this season with a two-day total of 224 for a 12th place tie.
The Eagles struggled in their third round, shooting 316 for a two-day total of 917. Southeastern Louisiana took home top honors with a score of 887.
East posted a team-best 76 Tuesday, while Brian Churchill-Smith was two strokes behind at 78 for a 24th place tie with a final score of 227. Brian Burt posted a 234 overall performance for a 48th-place tie, with Alex Jones (237) earning a tie for 65th and Zach MacDougall (240) tying for 75th.
The Eagles will be back on the course Saturday and Sunday, April 7-8, when they head to University Park, Pa. for the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
