RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team is in sixth place following the second day of action at the Rio Verde Invitational, March 10, with a 36-hole total of 614 (306-308). Sarah Johnson sits in a tie for 10th place with a two-day mark of 151 (78-73).
Akron's 298 was good enough to keep the Zips one stroke ahead of hard charging Penn State, which shot a tournament low team score of 294. Kansas also went low, scoring 297 on Saturday. The Jayhawks are fourth behind Missouri State (608) behind Akron (603) and the Nittany Lions (604). Tied with Kansas is Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
On the individual side, first round leader Ryann White shares second place with three others at five-over par. Akron's Kristen Hill, Wichita State's Gretchen Huhnerkock and Penn State's Katlyn Elliott all enter the final round one stroke from the lead. Seven golfers, including Imel, enter Sunday within five strokes of earning medalist.
