Eagles Finish Second at Rutgers Quad

Freshman Anna Willettes comes in third in all-around competition

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (EMUEagles.com)- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished second at the Rutgers Quad, Feb. 25, earning a season high team score 193.125.
University of Bridgeport came in first tallying a 193.875, followed by the Eagles. Host Rutgers University earned third place recording a 192.400 and The United States Air Force Academy rounded out the meet with a 190.950.
Freshman Anna Willette (Pylesville, Md.-North Harford) led the Green and White on the vault recording a 9.750 to place her in fifth. Sophomore Miranda Jarvis (Westminster, Md.-Westminster) tallied a 9.625, good for an 11th place tie.
Senior Stacie Wood (Brantford, Ont.-Brantford Collegiate Institute) earned a season high score on the uneven parallel bars recording a 9.750 and a third place finish. Also setting a season high record was junior Camille Cicchini (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.-Royal Palm Beach Community) who earned a 9.725 and a fifth place tie. Willette notched a top ten finish recording a 9.675 and a ninth place tie.
Freshman Paulina Miller (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-Citadel High School) tallied a career high 9.775, good for fourth place on the balance beam followed by Willette in fifth place earning a 9.750.
Senior Amanda Fuller (Hamilton, Ont.-St Mary's) had an excellent performance on the floor exercise turning in a 9.750 along with an eighth place tie. Fellow senior Wood recorded a 9.700 giving her a 12th place tie.
Willette was the only Eagle to compete in the all-around placing in third with a 38.750. The young gymnast rounded out her performance with an impressive 9.575 floor exercise performance.
Up next the Eagles head to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the Cornell Quad. The Green and White will take on Temple, Rutgers and host Cornell. Action is slated to begin at Noon.
