YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team took its second-straight Mid-American Conference victory Saturday, Nov. 3, dropping the Kent State University Golden Flashes. Eastern won the match in straight sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-14).
 
With the victory, Eastern advanced to 17-13 on the season and 7-7 in MAC play, while Kent fell to 6-20 on the season and 3-11 in conference play.
 
The Eagles' offense was strong throughout the entire match, posting a .350 attack percentage (46-6-123) with just six attack errors in the match. EMU had three athletes in double-figures for kills with Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) holding a .588 attack percentage with 10 kills. Paige Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy) notched 10 kills.
 
Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) led the Eagles' offense with 17 kills, while posting a double-double with 15 digs. Iaquaniello had just one attack error while owning a .444 hitting percentage in the Eagles' win. Megan Crawshaw (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) held a .833 attack percentage (5-0-6). Alyssa Davis (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Plainwell) posted a match-high 39 assists in the win. Defensively, Sierra Reed (Parker City, Ind.-Wapahani) led the match with 25 digs.
 
The Green and White cruised to a 25-14 first-set victory. EMU hit .341 (16-2-41) while holding the Golden Flashes to just a .143 attack percentage (11-5-42). Baker, Iaquaniello and Roback each contributed four kills in the frame, while Davis posted a set-high 13 assists. Baker notched a .800 hitting percentage (4-0-5) in the first-set victory. Defensively, Reed picked up a team-high eight digs and Iaquaniello nabbed six.
 
The Eagles took the second frame, 25-18, to take a two-set lead. EMU posted a .286 hitting percentage (14-2-42) in the set. Iaquaniello and Erin Short (Orrville, Ohio-Orrville) notched four kills apiece, while Iaquaniello and Reed picked up seven digs each. Baker was able to maintain her .400 attack percentage (2-0-5) in the second set as well. EMU held Kent State to a .171 attack percentage (12-5-41) in the second set.
 
Iaquaniello led the third set with nine kills, while Roback and Baker posted five and four kills, respectively. Davis had a set-high 15 assists in the frame, while Eastern posted a .425 attack percentage (19-2-40) en route to a 25-14 set victory.
 
The Eagles head into the last weekend of the 2012 regular season Friday, Nov. 9, when they play host to the Ball State University Cardinals. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
