Olivia Fouty led the Eagles with 13 points
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team suffered a 66-55 setback at the hands of Boston University Friday night, Nov. 23, at the Convocation Center. The Eagles drop a third straight contest to fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Terriers improved to 3-2.
Eastern was led by Olivia Fouty with 13 points and nine rebounds, while India Hairston added 11 points and seven boards. EMU went 20-of-61 (32.8 percent) from the floor, including 3-of-8 (37.5 percent) from three-point range.
Boston University was led by Chantell Alford and Mo Moran with 16 points each. The Terriers went 26-for-60 (43.3 percent) from the floor.
EMU fired first and opened the game with a Hairston layup, but the Terriers were quick to respond, putting together a 10-2 run over the next three minutes of play to take the lead. A bucket at the charity stripe by Fouty stopped the run with 13:49 to play in the half.
The Eagles cut Boston's advantage to two, 12-10, but the Terriers would hold on and go on a 16-5 run, including 10 unanswered points to close out the half.
The Terriers continued their run out of the locker room, going up by as much as 21 points, 60-39, midway through the second half. After exchanging a few baskets, EMU put up eight straight points to cut the Terriers lead to 12 with just under three minutes to play. But the Terriers proved to be too much and held on for the win.
The Green and White return to action Saturday afternoon, Nov. 24, when they take on Harvard University at 4 p.m. in the first leg of a double-header with the EMU men's basketball team at the Convocation Center.
