ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team dropped its first dual-meet of the season to Oakland University Saturday, Nov. 10, on the road in Rochester, Mich. EMU fell by 20 points, 139-159, after winning just seven events on the day.
Jacob Hanson continued his dominance in 2012-13 by winning three individual races and helping the 200-medley relay team to a second place finish. The quartet of Hanson, Michael Swain, Mike Kinross and Gus Everson took second in the 200-medley relay finishing in 1:32.91. Hanson took the 100-backstroke in 48.83, the 200-backstroke in 1:47.32 and the 200-individual medley in 1:52.73. Hanson's times in both the 100- and 200-backstroke are second to only Hanson's best times in EMU history.
Brian Moore raced to a first place finish in the 200-freestyle with a 1:40.75 finish, while Andrew Henry added a second place talley in the same race (1:41.29). Erik Gissen touched the wall in 21.47 in the 50-freestyle for a second place finish.
On the diving boards, the Eagles were dominant. Andrew Saunders, Jeffrey Craig, Sage Stephens and Dakoda Johnson finished 1-2-3-4 with scores of 293.47, 290.92, 272.85 and 252.07 in the one-meter dive. It went Craig, Saunders, Johnson, Stephens in the one through four spots with scores of 343.95, 338.10, 302.32 and 257.10 in the three-meter dive, respectively.
The Eagles next hit the pool, Friday, Nov. 30, for the first day of the two-day EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium. Friday's action of the EMU Invitational will begin at 3:30 p.m.
