YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads to University Park, Pa. to participate in the 35th Annual Nittany Lion Invitational, Sept. 30- Oct. 2, 2011. The 16-team competition will take place at The Penn State Blue Course.
The teams involved in the tournament include EMU, Penn State, Bucknell, Cincinnati, College of Charleston, Columbia, Georgetown, Harvard, Lehigh, Longwood, Memphis, Monmouth, South Florida, Western Michigan, and William & Mary Yale.
Back in 2009-10, the Eagles tied for third at the event with a team score of 927 (306-306-315). Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) picked up her fifth career top-five showing that weekend with a 54-hole mark of 221 (73-73-75).
The course will be set up as a par-72, playing a distance of 6,229 yards. Each team will consist of five players with the lowest scores counting toward the team total. Pre-tournament activities will take place on Thursday, Sept. 29 beginning at 8 a.m., including registration, practice rounds and coaches' dinner. The tournament will begin on Friday with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. The second round will take place the following day, with the final round of championship on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 9 a.m.
