Sophomore Jared Dalga shot 142 to hold fifth place after the second round of play

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore men's golfer Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) posted a two-over par 142 (72-70) to hold down a tie for fifth place after two rounds of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic at the Warren Golf Course, Sept. 26. The Eagles are in ninth place as a team, three strokes behind Lamar University in eighth.
Houston leads the tournament at 575 (291-284). Texas-Arlington's Paul McConnell leads the individual race with a one-under 139 (71-68) .
Senior Derek East (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada-St. Paul's-University of New Orleans) is tied for 23rd place with a 147 (73-74), while sophomore Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) resides in a tie for 45th place with a 151(74-77). Freshman Alex Jones (Dewitt, Mich.-Dewitt) is tied for 54th with a 153 (77-76). Junior Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) rounded out the lineup with a 157 (78-79) in 67th place.
Playing as an individual, senior Zach MacDougall (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada-Centennial) turned in rounds of 78 and 74 for a 36-hole total of 152 in a tie for 49th.
Play resumes on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 8:15 a.m.
