Head Coach John Goodridge and his squad will seek the program's 16th MAC Championship this fall
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's cross country Head Coach John Goodridge has announced his team's schedule for the upcoming 2011 season. After clinching their 15th Mid-American Conference Championship in program history, the Eagles will look to return to the top of the podium once again this fall.
Before reaching the MAC championship on October 29, the Green and White will compete in three different states as well as make a trip over the border to Ontario, Canada.
The Eagles kick-start their 2011 campaign on Sept. 2 at the Bowling Green Triangular in Bowling Green, Ohio before heading to East Lansing, Mich. on Sept. 16 for the Spartan Invitational.
Goodridge will look to repeat last season's first place performance at the Notre Dame Invitational as the Eagles' are scheduled to make their sixth consecutive appearance in South Bend, Ind. on Sept. 30.
On Oct. 15, the Green and White will then make the 230-mile trek to Guelph, Ontario for their first-ever running at the Guelph Invitational.
A week later, the Eagles will host their annual Eastern Michigan Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark. Last year, both past and present EMU runners participated and shined in both the 5,000-meter and 9,000-meter events.
The highly anticipated 2011 MAC Cross Country Championships are set for October 29 in Muncie, Ind. The Green and White will aim for their 16th title in program history after capturing their 15th championship in 2010. The Eagles accumulated 66 points in last season's victory, while posting an average time of 25:02.4 on the 8,000-meter course — 15 seconds faster than runner-up finisher, Kent State.
The NCAA Great Lakes Regional and Championships are scheduled for November 12 and 21, respectively, and the Eagles will look to improve upon last year's 11th-place regional performance.
