DADE CITY, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) remained red-hot on the weekend, finishing with a round of 74 in a tie for 27th place with a two-over par 218 (75-69-74) Sunday afternoon, March 6, at the USF Invitational. As a team, the Eagles recorded a mark of 878 (293-291-284) in 10th place on the 7,060 yard, par-72 Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club course.
Behind Carbary, freshman Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) carded a 69 on the tournament's final day to finish in a tie for 45th place with a 222 (75-78-69).Freshman Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) placed 49th with a 223 (72-74-77) and sophomore Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) also came in 49th with a 223 (71-74-78). Sophomore Bradley Altenhoff (Oakville, Ontario-White Oaks Secondary) rounded out the lineup with a 225 (77-74-74) for a tie for 57th place.
Middle Tennessee State University won the overall team tournament with a 26-under 838 (274-277-287). The individual champion was MTSU's Hunter Green who posted a score of 205 (67-67-71).
Head Coach Bruce Cunningham and the Eagles return to action at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, March 11-13, in Pinehurst, N.C.
