DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team struggled through the opening round of Florida Atlantic University's Spring Break Championship Friday, March 25, and will enter Saturday's second round in 16th position overall with a 316. The 17-team field is playing on the par 72, 6,722 yard course at at Gleneagles Country Club.
Despite the disappointing start to the tournament, sophomore Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) was a bright point for EMU. The Okemos, Mich. native leads EMU heading into Saturday's 18 holes, placing in a tie for 44th overall with a 75.
No. 25 Ohio State University leads the field at 10-under par 278, and the Buckeyes' Dan Charen is the top individual at five-under 67.
Saturday's second round of the event begins Saturday morning with a staggered tee time beginning at 11:30 a.m.
