Senior earns his fourth career weekly conference accolade

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior golfer Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for the period ending March 16. This marks the fourth time in her career she has collected the weekly award.

Peters picked up her 16th career top 10 finish with a four-over 220 (74-74-72) in a tie for ninth place at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam, March 14-16. Her three-round total is tied for the ninth lowest 54-hole mark in the program's history, and the best for any EMU student-athlete during the 2010-11 campaign.

EMU continues to rewrite the program's record book, after firing a third round 294 at the Wigwam Golf Course. Eastern's 54-hole score of 888 (298-296-294) equals the school record for a three-round tournament set three seasons ago at the Shootout at the Legends, Oct. 8-9, 2007.

The Eagles, ranked No.124 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, placed three golfers in the field's top 15, as the Green and White picked up their second consecutive top five finish of the season. Additionally, the Eagles' final round 294 was tied for the lowest 18-hole cumulative score of the season.
