KENT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University football team hits the road for the first time in 35 days, with a trip to Kent, Ohio, Saturday, Nov. 19, to square off against the Golden Flashes of Kent State University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Dix Stadium. The contest will not be televised, but WEMU (89.1 FM) will provide audio coverage of the game with Brian Nemerovski and Andrew Wellock calling the action on the field.
The Eagles enter the contest with a record of 6-4 (4-2 MAC) after a 30-17 win against the University at Buffalo, Nov. 12. Meanwhile, the Golden Flashes are 4-6 (3-3 MAC) after recapturing the Wagon Wheel with a 35-3 victory over their rival Zips from the University of Akron, Nov. 12.

WIN MORE MINUTES ... PAY THE PRICE: The Eagles have made dramatic progress every season under Head Coach Ron English. The 2011 season is the perfect example of that as the Green and White has posted a 6-4 record through its first 10 games, surpassing the team's entire win-total during the first two seasons of English's tenure as head coach.

RUN, RUN, RUN: In 10 games this season, Eastern Michigan has rushed for 2,293 yards and 15 touchdowns on 484 carries for the 14th-best ground attack in the nation. In fact, the Eagles have been picking up yardage at a prolific rate and are currently on pace to set the school record for most net rushing yards in a season. The 1987 Hurons, who captured the 1987 Mid-American Conference title, ran the ball a program-best 610 times for a total of 2,701 yards. Through its first 10 games, that 1987 squad ran the football 504 times for 2,275 yards and 31 touchdowns.

EXTENDED HOME COOKING: The Eagles are coming off a three-game home stand that featured wins over Western Michigan, Oct. 22, and Buffalo, Nov. 12, to go along with a heartbreaking setback to Ball State, Nov. 5. In total, EMU was home for 35 consecutive days, marking it the longest streak without a road contest since the 2005 season. During that 2005 campaign, EMU hosted Miami, Western Michigan and Ball State before enjoying a bye week to rest up for a trip to Buffalo, N.Y.

OHRMAN NAMED MAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Senior defensive lineman Brad Ohrman was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 12. This marked Ohrman's first career MAC weekly award.
Ohrman recorded eight tackles (2 solo, 6 assists) in the Eagles' 30-17 victory over Buffalo, Nov. 12. The Adrian, Mich. native, playing in his final home game, turned in 1.5 tackles-for-loss for 14 yards, and included in that total was a sack for 13 yards. Ohrman also added a quarterback hurry in the win.
On the afternoon, the EMU defense tallied 10 tackles-for-loss and limited the Bulls to just 252 total yards of offense.

EMU SEEKS TO BECOME BOWL ELIGIBLE: For the first time since the 1995 season and just the sixth time in the past 25 years, Eastern Michigan looks to become bowl eligible with a victory at either Kent State, Nov. 19, or Northern Illinois, Nov. 25. EMU needs seven wins this season because it has two victories over FCS schools and only one counts for bowl eligibility.
The Eagles, who have not to been to a bowl game since the 1987 California Bowl, clinched no-worse than a .500 season with a 30-17 win on Senior Day against Buffalo, Nov. 12. The win over UB also snapped a 15-year streak of consecutive losing seasons for the Green and White.

ALL-TIME VERSUS KENT STATE: Kent State and Eastern Michigan will be meeting for the 29th time in school history. The Golden Flashes hold a 15-13 edge in the series that began in 1973 when KSU recorded a 34-20 victory in Ypsilanti, Oct. 20.
The last time EMU and KSU played was Oct. 17, 2009, when the Golden Flashes posted a 28-6 victory on Band Day at Rynearson Stadium. Alex Gillett led the team in rushing with 10 carries for 75 yards, while linebacker Andre Hatchett paced the Eagles with 12 tackles. Kent State was led by Spencer Keith who completed 10 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and running back Jacquis Terry rushed for 79 yards on 18 carries.

GILLETT STEPPING UP: Junior quarterback Alex Gillett completed 10-of-15 passes for a career-best 234 yards and four touchdowns in the 30-17 victory over Buffalo, Nov. 12. The four scoring completions equalled a career-best set against Ball State, Nov. 5.  He also ran the ball 19 times for a game-high 89 yards.  In the last four contests, Gillett has combined to complete 34-of-49 passes for 650 yards and nine TDs. He has also run for a team-high 338 yards on 63 carries.

EMBRACE THE PROCESS: The six wins by the Green and White in 2011 are the most victories in a season by an EMU squad since 1995, when the then-Rick Rasnick led Eagles finished with a 6-5 record.

ON THE HORIZON: Following the KSU game, Eastern Michigan hits the road to battle MAC West Division leader Northern Illinois University, Nov. 25. Game time is scheduled for TBA.
