EMU will travel to Michigan Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University and University of Michigan football programs have adjusted the date of their 2027 non-conference matchup. The Eagles will travel to Michigan Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027. The game was previously scheduled for Sept. 18.
The schedule adjustment comes as the NCAA implements changes to the FBS football calendar beginning with the 2027 season. Under the new calendar, all FBS teams will operate within the same 14-week regular-season window, with teams permitted to play up to 12 games and have two open Saturdays. The changes eliminate the first-contest-date exceptions that previously allowed some teams to begin their seasons earlier than others.
The matchup is the first of two scheduled contests between Eastern Michigan and Michigan. The Eagles will return to Ann Arbor during the 2030 campaign on Sept. 7.
Overall, Michigan and Eastern Michigan have played 10 times on the gridiron, with U-M winning all 10 previous matchups. The series began in 1896, with Michigan recording an 18-0 shutout. The last meeting between the two squads came Sept. 17, 2011, when Michigan earned a 31-3 victory over EMU.
