AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore men's golfer Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) posted a two-under par 142 (69-73) to hold down a tie for 10th place after two rounds of The Firestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club, Oct. 10. Overall, the Eagles are in a three-way tie for ninth place with Nebraska and Toledo, five strokes behind Kansas State University in eighth.
Leading the team competition are Indiana and SMU, who each shot 572 on Monday. They are 17 strokes ahead of the Eagles. Leading the individual competition is Mac McClung of St. Mary's, who produced a 137 in the opening 36 holes.
Sophomore Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) and senior Derek East (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada-St. Paul's-University of New Orleans) are tied for 41st place with a 148. Freshman Alex Jones (Dewitt, Mich.-Dewitt) is tied for 63rd with a 151 (77-74), while junior Casey Olsen (Okemos,, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) rounded out the lineup with a 159 (77-82) in 87th place.
Playing as an individual, junior Brad Altenhoff (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-White Oaks Secondary) turned in rounds of 77 and 76 for a 36-hole total of 153 in a tie for 72nd.
