Men's Swimming and Diving Falls To Oakland, 184-116

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team dropped its non-conference match up against Oakland University this afternoon, 184-116.
With the loss, the Eagles drop to 1-2 overall, while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 3-2 on the season.
Jacob Hanson (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) posted three second-place finishes on the day in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as in the 200 IM. Junior Troy Esentan (North Little Rock, Ark.-Central) picked up a first place finish for the Green and White with his 2:04.82 efforts in the 200 Breaststroke with teammate Michael Swain (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Huron/University of Michigan) following closely in third place in the event after touching the wall in 2:07.14.
In the 200 Butterfly, the Eagles finished 2-3-4 with Owen Grey (Allen, Texas-Allen) leading the way for EMU, taking second place in 1:55.45, followed by Michael Kinross (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Crystal Lake South) (1:56.33) in third and Aaron Lawson (Middletown, Ohio-Middletown) (1:56.42) in fourth.
Also having notable performances were Justin Griggs (Cheltenham, Australia-Australian Catholic University) and Matt Zavislak (Commerce Twp., Mich.-Walled Lake Northern). Griggs took home second place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Zavislak placed third in the 200 freestyle event and later earned second place in the 100 free.
The Eagles were dominant on the boards, sweeping the top three spots in both the one and three-meter events. Jeffrey Craig (Kent, Ohio-Field) paced EMU with his first place performance in the one-meter dive after posting the top score of 334.17. He was followed by teammates Andrew Saunders (Halifax, Nova Scotia-Halifax West) and Mitch Kellerman (Erlanger, Ky.-St. Henry), who took second and third place, respectively.
Craig's 382.20 points in the three-meter event earned him yet another victory on the afternoon. Saunders took second place with 315.45 while Kevin Douglas (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood) rounded out the top three, tallying 261.90 points in the event.
The men's squad will return to action next Saturday, Jan. 15 when they travel down the road to Ann Arbor to face off against the University of Michigan. The meet is scheduled for a noon start.
