NOTRE DAME, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University senior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich. -Mattawan) continued his strong play with a top-25 showing, turning in a 24th place tie here at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic on the par 70, 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the Kalamazoo, Mich. native carded a 74 in the final round to finish with a 220 (75-71-74).
As a team, the Eagles finished ninth with a team score of 888 (297-293-298) as the University of Ioa took home the invitational hardware with an 853 (289-278-286). San Francisco's Ji Hwan Park and Taylor Travis shared medalist honors with a two-under 208.
Freshman Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) gave the Eagles another player among the top 40, after carding a 78 to finish tied for 35th with a 223(73-72-78). Classmate Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) followed with a 224 (73-75-76) while senior Adam Winwood (Epping, Essex, UK-St. Johns (South Mountain CC) turned in a 225 (76-75-74) for 44th. Sophomore Bradley Altenhoff (Oakville, Ontario-White Oaks Secondary) rounded out the lineup with a 237 (84-79-74) for 76th place.
Competing as an individual, junior Zach MacDougall (Coquitlam, British Columbia-Centennial) tied for 44th place after notching rounds of 74, 76 and 75.
The Eagles are next in action Oct. 11-12 at the Firestone Intercollegiate in Akron, Ohio.
