Senior Nick Carbary ties for ninth place
BURLINGTON, Iowa (EMUEagles.com)- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge Tuesday, Sept. 21 finishing in 13th place with a 26-over 890 (298-288-304).
The Green and White finished the opening round of the tournament in 12th place with 298 Sunday, Sept. 19, followed by a 288 Monday.
Senior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) finished the tournament with a 73 for a ninth place tie at four-under 212 (70-69-73). Freshman Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) ended the tournament tied for 37th after making his way into the top 10, carding a five-under par 67 for his second round, he finished just nine strokes behind Carbary at 221 (74-67-80) for the weekend. Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) and Adam Winwood (Epping, Essex, UK-St. Johns (South Mountain CC) finished in 60th and tied for 62nd respectively. Churchill-Smith recorded a 228 (75-78-75), while Winwood shot 230 (79-75-76). Senior Nicholas Banfield (Halifax, Nova Scotia-St. Mary's University (South Mountain C.C.) finished 74th for the Eagles recording a 250 (93-77-80).
Host Iowa Came in first with a 31 under par 833 (268-285-280), Vince India and Chris Brant tied for first both finishing with a 10-under 206 for the Hawkeyes.
The Eagles hit the links again, Sept. 27-28, for the Irish Gridiron Classic at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.
