WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Playing in nasty conditions and through several weather delays, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded play Sunday, April 25, with a cumulative score of 905 at the Boilermaker Invitational. The Eagles recorded a third round score of 303 after shooting back-to-back rounds of 301. EMU finished in 11th place in the field of 12 at the par-72, 7,210-yard Kampen Course on the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Scores were higher in the third round across the board as a wet course and another rain delay made for a challenging afternoon.
Illinois took home both the team and individual titles carding a 854 as a group while Chris DeForest took home the individual medal with a 206 (69-69-68).
Junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) led the Eagles with a score of six-over 222 (72-73-77) in a tie for 18th place. Junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) finished the tournament with a 228 (78-76-74) in a tie for 41st while senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) finished with a 229 (78-74-77) in 44th. Rounding out the lineup, seniors Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) and Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) posted a 230 (77-78-75) and a 233 (74-78-81), respectively.
Next up for the head coach Bruce Cunningham and the Eagles is the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championship, April 30-May 2, Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. Kent State University will be the host for the conference championship and live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
