WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits 10th Saturday, April 23, after one round of the Boilermaker Invitational. Almost through round two, lightening suspended the round and will be resumed prior to round three on Sunday.
Carding a 301 as a team, junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) leads EMU sitting in a tie for 15th at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex shooting a 72 on the par-72, 7,465-yard course.
Following within a stroke of each other are the remaining four led by senior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) who carded a 74 followed in succession by senior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) with a 77, senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) with a 78 and junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) with a 78.
A 12 team field Akron is playing alongside Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Toledo and Wisconsin.
The rest of round two and round three will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
