Three Eagles Finish in the Top 25 at the Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University freshman Emily Podzielinski (Noblesville, Ind.-Noblesville) continued her strong play with the seventh top 20 showing of her rooking campaign, turning in a 15th place finish at the Indiana Invitational here at the 6,142-yard, par-72 Indiana University Golf Course, April 10-11. Returning close to home, the Noblesville, Ind. native carded a 73 in the final round to finish with a 223 (75-75-73), the lowest 54-hole score of her young career.

As a team, the Eagles finished in sixth place with a team score of 904 (312-295-297) as host Indiana took home the invitational hardware with an 886 (304-291-291). The host Hoosiers' 54-hole tally was six strokes better than runner-up Colorado (892). Iowa State took third (895), with Minnesota fourth (896) and Michigan fifth (898). Illinois' Hailey Koschmann was the individual medalist with a score of 214 (71-74-69).

Two other Eagles also finished play in the top 25, junior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) tied for 20th after firing a 224 (78-71-75). Junior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) placed 22nd tie after tallying rounds of 78, 73 and 74 for 225. Freshman Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) and senior Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Quebec-Therese-Martin) rounded out the lineup with a 233 (82-76-75) and a 235 (81-77-77), respectively.

Playing as individuals, junior Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) carded rounds of 78, 81 and 76 for a 235 in a tie for 50th place, while Lina Pasquali (Kendallville, Ind.-East Noble) tied for 75th with a 244 (81-82-81).

Next up for the Eagles is the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championship, April 23-25, at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Ind. The University of Toledo will be the host for the conference championship and live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
