BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Led by junior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion), the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team currently reside in sixth place tie at the Indiana Invitational here at the 6,142-yard, par-72 Indiana University Golf Course. Peters fired rounds of 78 and 71 for a total of 149 on day one and is six strokes behind the University of Michigan's Min Yean Tan at 143 (72-71).
As a team, Eastern Michigan recorded a 36-hole total of 607 (312-295) to tie with the University of Minnesota. The host Hoosiers hold down the top spot with a 595 (304-291) followed by Iowa State (599), Colorado (600) and Michigan (600).
Two other Eagles also finished day one action in the top 20, freshman Emily Podzielinski (Noblesville, Ind.-Noblesville) is currently tied for 14th after firing a 150 (75-75). Junior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) is in 17th place tie after tallying a 78 and a 73 for an opening day 151. Freshman Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) and senior Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Quebec-Therese-Martin) rounded out the lineup in a tie for 51st with a 158.
Playing as individuals, junior Lina Pasquali (Kendallville, Ind.-East Noble) carded rounds of 78 and 81 for a 159 in 60th place, while Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) is tied for 73rd with a 163 (81-82).
Round three gets under way Sunday, April 11, with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
