COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – After 36 holes of remarkable golf, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits tied for first among the 11-team field at the 41st Annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on the 7,451 yard, par-71 Scarlet Course. The Eagles collectively finished at seven-over-par (575) in a dead-heat with the Nittany Lions of Penn State University. The two teams battled between rounds with PSU one-up after the first round and Eastern Michigan retaliating in the second round.
Senior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) paced the Green and White in both rounds carding a a pair of 70s for a 140. Burke sank six birdies on the day to go along with his 26 pars. Penn State's Kevin Foley resides atop the leader board with a five-under 137 (69-68) followed by Northwestern's David Lipsky at 138 (71-67).
Seniors Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) and Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) contributed to the Eagles' triumph, as each carded 36-hole totals of 143 to tie for sixth. Junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) concluded at seven-over-par (149) with rounds of 75 and 74. Junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) is tied for 55th place after struggling in the second round to finish with a 155 (75-80).
