EAGLES FLY SOUTH FOR MAC OPENER:
The Eagles will open Mid-American Conference play on the road for just the third time in the last eight years when they travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. From there, the Green and White will continue south until they reach Bowling Green. The Eagles and Falcons will do battle April 3-4 with single games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. EMU won its MAC opener over Miami in 2009, but is just 2-7 in its line nine MAC openers overall. The last time they opened up MAC play against Toledo was 2005, which the Eagles won by a score of 4-3.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS: The University of Toledo, picked to finish sixth in the West Division in this year's MAC preseason poll, enters play this weekend with a 6-21 record and coming off four straight losses, two of those to newly-ranked No. 24 Notre Dame March 24. Erinn Wright leads the Rockets in hitting with a .349 batting average, followed closely behind by Brooke Gates' .338-mark. Gates is second on the team with 17 RBI while Jillian Spink and Lacey LeVier are tied for the team lead with three home runs. Hannah Rockhold is 4-7 in the circle with a 3.46 ERA. She has eight complete games and one shutout this year, recording 49 strikeouts in 99 innings pitched.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS: Bowling Green State University was picked to finish sixth in the East in this year's MAC preseason poll and it enters the weekend with a 4-10 overall record. The Falcons have lost five straight and open MAC play by hosting Central Michigan before a two-game set with the Eagles. Berger and Fulk are the lone Falcons hitting over .300 and both have combined for seven home runs, with Berger leading the way with five. In the circle, Bott and Lines each have 2-5 records and 32 strikeouts on the year.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles took full advantage of their first home series of the season following 20 straight road games to start the year. In game one against the University of Detroit-Mercy Titans, Stacie Skodinski went 4-for-4, the second time she's done so this season. Jenny Scherer also hit the first of two home runs on the day to lead EMU to a10-2 victory. She and her sister Allison Scherer went back-to-back in the third inning of game two, the first time a pair of sisters has done that in EMU history. Freshman Jillian Williamson threw her first career shutout, leading the Green and White to an 8-0 win and doubleheader sweep.

FRESHMAN PHENOMS: Katy Blaharski and Jillian Williamson shined before the EMU faithful in their first appearances at home Wednesday, March 31. Blaharski led off the game with her first career home run while Williamson pitched a shutout for the Eagles in game two, earning the first win of her career. Both accomplishments led to Eagle wins as EMU swept Detroit in a doubleheader, 10-2 and 8-0, respectively.

SISTERLY LOVE: For the first time in EMU history, a pair of sisters hit back-to-back home runs in a game. Jenny and Allison Scherer accomplished the feat in game two against Detroit Wednesday, March 31. After Jenny went deep with a tape-measure shot over the 220-foot sign in center-field, Allison followed up with a no-doubter of her own in the direction of the scoreboard in left-center.

SKIDDY ON TRACK: Stacie Skodinski's batting average continues to rise. The junior went 4-for-4 in game one against the University of Detroit-Mercy Wednesday, March 31, and finished the day by increasing her average by 27 points to .431 (25-for-58). Skodinski now has six multi-hit games including two four-hit games on the season.

OFFENSIVE SURGE: The Eagles posted a season-high 16 hits against Detroit in game one Wednesday, March 31, surpassing the previous high of 12 (accomplished twice). Six different Eagles recorded multiple hits including Stacie Skodinski who went a perfect 4-for-4.

BLAH BLAH BLAH: Home runs and Katy Blaharski didn't belong in the same sentence, until Wednesday, March 31, when she led off game one with an opposite field shot on the first pitch she saw. The freshman from Carleton, Mich. had never hit a home run at any level in her lifetime prior to that. Now, she has a lead-off long ball to her credit. She finished game one 2-for-3 at the plate and added a triple in game two to cap off a memorable day.
