DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team remains in contention among some of the nation's best NCAA Division I squads, remaining a solid seventh place heading into Sunday's final round of the Spring Break Championship Tournament at the Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach.

The University of Illinois, the defending tournament champion, leads the 16-team field by 12 strokes with a 561 team score. Chris DeForest has led the way for the 10th-ranked Illinois, holding a two-stroke lead for medalist honors with a seven-under-par 135 score. He has carded consistent rounds of 67 and 68 in the first two rounds.

The University of Iowa's Barrett Kelpin moved into second place in the individual competition, with a five-under-par total, after recording Saturday's lowest round with a 65 score on the 6,722-yard par 71 layout. Nick Newcomb of Murray State University and Alex Medinis of Florida Gulf Coast are tied in third place with four-under-par scores. A total of nine players are taking under-par scores into Sunday's final 18 holes.

The second annual Spring Break Championship Tournament features 10 of the nation's top 100 NCAA Division I collegiate teams and four past national champions. Sixteen teams from 10 different states are competing in the three-day event. Big Ten Conference teams joining Illinois in the tournament field include the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Penn State.

Tee times for Sunday's round are from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. with members of the tournament-leading teams teeing off first.
