Eagles Post Season-High Score in Loss to Ball State

Eagles score a season-high 193.425, but drop regular season finale to the Cardinals by a fraction of a point

MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Despite a season-high team score and a third-straight all-around win from freshman Kaylyn Millick (Washington, Pa.-Trinity), the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell just short Sunday afternoon, March 21, at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind., as the Eagles fell, 193.450-193.425, to the Ball State University Cardinals.
The loss drops EMU to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
Millick had a sensational competition for the Eagles, as she carded a career-high 9.825 in the floor exercise to go along with a career-high and first place 39.000 all-around score. Millick also recorded scores of 9.775 on the vault, 9.725 on the balance beam, and 9.675 on the bars in the meet to win the all-around for the third consecutive competition.
Not far behind was senior Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield), who finished third all-around with a score of 38.475. Grigg finished first on the vault and bars with a 9.825 and 9.750, respectively, while also tallying a 9.825 in the floor exercise and a 9.075 on the balance beam.
Junior Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) finished first on the balance beam with a 9.800, while also carding a 9.200 on the vault for the Eagles.
Senior Sam Golden (Denville, N.J.-Morris Knolls) carded a 9.725 on the vault to finish fourth overall, while also recording a 9.625 in the floor exercise.
