YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
Coming off its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season last weekend against Western Michigan, the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team (2-4, 1-2 MAC) jumps back into league action Sunday, Feb. 21, as the Eagles head to Bowling Green, Ohio to square off against the Bowling Green State University Falcons (4-2, 3-0 MAC). The competition is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Anderson Arena.

LOOKING BACK: The Eagles treated the home crowd at Warner Gymnasium to an exciting match-up against Western Michigan, Feb. 13, as the Eagles managed to just edge the Broncos, 188.200-188.125, to pick up their first MAC win of the 2010 season. Led by Erin Grigg's (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) top all-around score of 38.450, EMU improved its record to 2-4 and earned its first league win of the season. Grigg tied EMU's previous season-best score in the floor exercise with a 9.750, which she and freshman Kaylyn Millick (Washington, Pa.-Trinity) both previously carded at the Michigan Classic, Feb. 7.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following Sunday's competition at BGSU, the Eagles head to Stanford, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational, Feb. 28. EMU will take on host and No. 8 ranked Stanford, as well as California and North Carolina.

HEADING WEST: As mentioned, EMU makes its annual spring break trip to the West Coast this season when the Eagles compete in the Stanford Invitational, Feb. 28, against the Stanford Cardinal, North Carolina Tar Heels and California Bears. The team will remain in California for the California-Davis Invitational, March 5, when they take on UC-Davis and Sacramento. State.

VAULTING TO THE TOP: Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) and Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) both posted EMU's top score on the vault at the Michigan Classic, Feb. 7m, as both carded a 9.800 to help the Eagles finish third overall in the competition.

FIRST-YEAR SUCCESS: True freshman Kaylyn Millick (Washington, Pa.-Trinity) registered Eastern Michigan's top all-around score of the season at the Michigan Classic, Feb. 7, as her 38.750 was good for sixth overall in the competition.

SO FAR, SO GOOD: In four meets this season, the Eagles are averaging over 190 points per-competition. The team's highest score so far this season came against Central Michigan, Jan. 30, as the team posted a 191.525 score in the loss to the Chippewas. Last week's 188.200 score in the victory against WMU marks the Eagles' lowest output of the season.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Eagles compete at home just one more time this season, as they host the Eagle Invitational, March 13, for Parent and Alumni Day at Bowen Field House. EMU will compete against Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Seattle Pacific.

MAC CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO "THE HOUSE THAT ROARS": The 2010 Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Championship will take place March 27 at Anderson Arena in Bowling Green, Ohio. It will mark EMU's second trip to Anderson Arena this season, as EMU faces BGSU this weekend.
