Men's Golf Places Fifth at Georgetown Intercollegiate

BEALLSVILLE, Md. (EMUEagles.com) -- Junior Zach MacDougall's (Coquitlam, British Columbia-Centennial) 13th place finish helped the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team take fifth place at the Georgetown Invitational. The 12-team field competed at the par-71, 6,953-yard Members Club at Four Streams.
One day after equaling the course record with a five-under par 66, MacDougall closed out the round with a 78 for a 54-hole total of 215 (71-66-78). The top 15 finish is the first of the British Columbia's career, and the two-day mark shattered his previous career-low of 220 set just a week ago at the Firestone Invitational Oct. 11-12.
Senior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) tied for 19th place with 217 (78-68-71) and freshman Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) shot a 218 (76-72-70) for a 23rd place tie. Freshman Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) struggled in the conditions, shooting a final round 80 for 31st at 220 (73-67-80). Senior Adam Winwood (Epping, Essex, UK-St. Johns-South Mountain CC) rounded out the lineup in 55th place with a 230 (74-75-81).
Campbell University won the tournament with a score of 847 (284-275-288) followed by Miami University with 857 (279-286-292). The RedHawks' Austin Kelly won medalist honors after shooting a eight-under-par 205.
The tournament marked the last one of the fall for the Eagles. The spring campaign gets under way in March when the sqaud travels to Tampa, Fla., to compete in the Ron Smith/USF Invitational. Stay tuned to EMUEagles.com for more information.
