Box Score
BUFFALO, NY (EMUEagles.com) - Despite being out-shot 21-8 in the match, the Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team defeated the University at Buffalo, 1-0, in a Mid-American Conference cross-divisional battle behind Paige Sheridan's (Farmington Hills, Mich.-Mercy) sixth goal of the season at UB Soccer Stadium, Sunday, Oct. 10.
With the win, EMU stretches its unbeaten streak to six matches and moves to 7-5-3 overall, 4-0-2 in MAC play. Meanwhile, Buffalo falls to 1-12-1 (0-5-1 MAC).
The Eagles struggled to generate many scoring opportunities, but made the most of one and it held against a stingy Bulls squad. Sheridan's initial shot in the 15th minute was deflected, but the senior was persistent and followed it up with a blast that netted EMU the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Monique Budani (Whitby, Ontario-Sinclair) made nine saves in earning her 21st career shutout and fifth this season. Budani has now made a MAC-best and career-high 111 saves this season in 14 starts and continues to add to her EMU career-record total which now stands at 352.
EMU will be back in action Friday, Oct. 15, when it takes on Northern Illinois at home. Start time is slated for 3 p.m. at Scicluna Field.
